Changing Graphic Settings

Reader rating: 4 out of 10

Introduction
Does Windows crash often? Crashes can happen for dozens of reasons, but if you have an older computer which seems slow, this article may help you solve this problem.
This How-To Article shows you how to speed uop Windows by disabling 'hardware acceleration for graphics'. This speeds up Windows, and in some cases prevents it from crashing.
Changing Graphic Settings
1. Right-click the 'My Computer' icon from the Desktop, and select 'Properties' from the menu that appears.
2. Click the 'Performance' tab.
3. Click the 'Graphics' button.
4. Set the acceleration to 'None'.
Important Note: Be sure to note where the acceleration is set currently. If disabling graphics acceleration doesn't stop crashes, then you should enable it again. (Refer to the tip below.)
5. Restart your computer.
Tip: Graphics acceleration is not always the cause for crashes, but it can be for older, slower computers. If this doesn't solve your problem, set graphics acceleration back to where it was when you started.
