Collabnet Windows Client

A comparison of Subversion clients includes various aspects of computer software implementations of the client role using the client–server model of the Subversionrevision control system.

Descriptions[edit]

Collabnet Windows Client
  1. CollabNet Desktop – Microsoft Windows Edition. Access TeamForge, Apache™ Subversion® and Lab Management functionality from within a rich and powerful Windows client and take advantage of integration with Microsoft Office applications. If you and your team members prefer to stay in a familiar desktop environment.
  2. Setup Collabnet Subversion Edge Server using an existing SVN repository and using LDAP to Authenticate against Windows Domain. Recently had to setup an SVN server, this svn server was to house an existing svn repository housed on another server.

CollabNet Subversion Client 1.7.2 is a software program developed by CollabNet. The setup package generally installs about 29 files and is usually about 13.75 MB (14,413,342 bytes). Relative to the overall usage of users who have this installed on their PCs, most are running Windows 7 (SP1) and Windows 10. The MiCollab Client installer ships as a Windows Installer package. You can use a file server on your network as a software distribution point for the MiCollab Client. Alternatively you can use a Logon Script, or a Group Policy to customize and bulk deploy the application. May 30, 2012  Windows 2003, Windows 2008, and more. Since TeamForge is a server application, we focused on the Windows server operating systems, when validating TeamForge. XP, Vista, and 7 should only be used for evaluation. We encourage you to follow the sizing guidelines (for 32bit or 64bit), and to start with a ‘clean system’ (dedicated box is the best). FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a veteran Subversion developer and a CollabNet employee. It's difficult to imagine what immediate technical benefit you'd get from running CollabNet's packaged 'svnserve' utility versus the one that ships with TortoiseSVN. The primary difference will be the additional support offered by CollabNet for the version they provide. What's the best way to search the CollabNet User Information Center? What is a Publishing repository? How does it work? Is the CollabNet TeamForge SOAP API backward-compatible? What can I do with the SOAP API? How should my API client store user passwords? How does an application interact with TeamForge SOAP services?

TortoiseSVN, a Windows shell extension, gives feedback on the state of versioned items by adding overlays to the icons in the Windows Explorer. Repository commands can be executed from the enhanced context menu provided by Tortoise.

Cornerstone is a GUI for Subversion written with Xcode for MacOS X.

SmartSVN provides a similar Explorer integration, but also can be used as a standalone SVN client for different platforms. SmartSVN is available in three different editions: A free Foundation edition with fewer features and two commercial editions called Professional and Enterprise with the full feature set.

Some programmers prefer to have a client integrated within their development environment. Such environments may provide visual feedback of the state of versioned items and add repository commands to the menus of the development environment. Examples of this approach include AnkhSVN, and VisualSVN for use with Microsoft Visual Studio, and Subversive[1][2]for use with Eclipse. Delphi XE Subversion integration is built into the Delphi IDE.

It is common to expose Subversion via Webdav using the Apache web server. In this case, any Webdav client can be used, but the functionality provided this way may be limited. Alternative ways to serve Subversion include uberSVN and VisualSVN Server.
